DON BOSCO –WITH THE YOUNG AND FOR THE YOUNG

Throw Ball Match

January 31st is a day that holds great significance in the lives of each and every member of the Salesian family as it is the feast day of our Father and Founder Don Bosco. His motto, “Give me souls, take away the rest”, is an expression of his dedicated service in bringing young souls to God.

On the 31st of January of every year the Salesian family present in Nashik takes pride in celebrating the feast with great enthusiasm and fervent spiritual preparation .This year too we had a grand celebration of the feast which began with the novena. The Don Bosco parish planned out the themes for the novena as the corporal and spiritual acts of mercy, keeping in mind the Year of Mercy.  The principal celebrants of every days Eucharist beautifully explained the day’s themes in relation with the life of Don Bosco which helped us to understand his life and work in a more profound manner.

On the 9th day of the novena that is on the vigil of the feast we had an opportunity to show our love to our dear Father Don Bosco, through the academy wherein each zone and religious houses of the Parish staged a short item portraying Don Bosco’s love for the young.  The all awaited 31st January 2016 dawned with immense joy in our hearts as it was solemnized by the presence of his grace Bishop Lourdes Daniel who inspired us with his enriching homily. In loving memory of Don Bosco, the friend of youth we invited the youth of our parish for a Throw Ball match after which we viewed a short clipping on the life of St. Don Bosco. The Second Year novices helped the youngsters to understand that being ordinary youth they too can take part in the mission of Don Bosco in loving and caring for the abandoned youngsters and thus achieve their own sanctification.

The feast of St. John Bosco made a great impression in our hearts, boosting us to walk in the footsteps of our founder, thus carrying his mission forward with greater zeal and ardour.

Let’s Run …Jump…Play… like kids again

Sports Day
Sports keep our mind, heart and our whole being healthy and fit.  We the novices re-lived our school days as we participated in the sports day conducted for us here in our novitiate. The various games organized, kept us active and boosted our spirits. The 100 meters race and the other games such as sack race, lemon and spoon relay, threading the needle, bursting the balloon etc. made us to run and jump like kids and at the same time enabled us to grow in team spirit.  Then came the all awaited throw-ball match which made us to fight for our team and we did give each other a tough competition. Both the teams gave their best.  Finally the exciting prizes distributed by the animator Sr. Anelfreda Miranda made us feel delighted. This event will remain in our memory as we look forward for many such occasions to grow healthier and holier.
